📅 On 20th November 2025, the Ukrainian Nuclear Forum Association (UNFA) held a round table discussion “The Chornobyl Exclusion Zone: Radioactive Waste (RAW) Management. Status, Main Problems, and Future Vision”. The round table brought together representatives of international organizations, Ministry of Energy, SAUEZM, NNEGC “Energoatom”, specialized enterprises and Ukrainian companies that are members of the UNFA and NGO «Ukrainian Nuclear Society», to discuss the state of the Ukrainian radioactive waste management system, issues of infrastructure development in the Exclusion Zone, and the harmonization of national policy with the Euratom directives.
💬 A professional discussion was held on the state of activities in the field of RAW management. The purpose of this discussion was to coordinate the positions of all stakeholders, identify common problems, find ways for their solution, seek sources of funding, and establish effective partnerships. The results of the discussion should be summarized in a Position Document, which will be submitted to the relevant Ukrainian authorities and, if possible, to international financial institutions.
🤝 The round table was held with the partnership support and participation of the Joint Support Office (JSO) for the Implementation of the Instrument for Nuclear Safety Cooperation in Ukraine (INSC), the Ukrainian Nuclear Forum Association, and the Ukrainian Nuclear Society.
