Happy Easter!

Christ is Risen!

We know that in response each of you will respond “Truly He is risen!”.

Easter has absorbed everything that symbolizes for us, Ukrainians, the energy of life and goodness. This holiday is woven from the hopes and traditions that were cherished by great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers. It is the faith and memory of generations that make us stronger!

Let Easter once again unite us: in the family circle, in thoughts, in aspirations. And will add confidence that light dispels darkness, that life wins, that every prayer will be heard.

We wish to meet this day in safety, with the closest relatives, to feel their warmth, even if you are hundreds of kilometers from each other.

We bow our heads to those on the shield and continue to support those with the shield – thanks to them we light the Easter candle today.

The 38th anniversary of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant disaster

Today is International Day of Remembrance of the Chernobyl Disaster. We remember the heroes and victims of the most terrible man-made accident that happened on the territory of Ukraine in 1986 and shook the whole world.

Employees of SE “USIE IZOTOP”, in particular, the then head of the company Oleksandr Solod, participated in the liquidation of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant: they fought the fire and cleared radiation debris.

Our Enterprise was also involved in overcoming the consequences of the disaster: on a large scale, it supplied various equipment and personal protective equipment for liquidators, organized checkpoints and decontamination points. A service point for the repair of dosimetric equipment and transport for all enterprises of the liquidation zone has been equipped at the premises of SE “USIE IZOTOP”.

On May 20, 1986, the specialized Construction Department No. 605, known as US-605 (УС-605), was formed for the purpose of erecting a structure for the long-term burial of the 4th power unit of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. The employees of our company joined the staff unit US-605, which received all specialists seconded to the Chernobyl NPP.

We cannot turn back time to “undo” the disaster. However, we cannot do it again. And to be grateful to those who saved the world back then. However, it is in our power not to repeat this. And to be grateful to those who saved the world then.

This is one of the most famous photos of photojournalist Ihor Kostin, who 14 hours after the explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant boarded a helicopter to fly around the epicenter of the disaster. His photo series entitled “The Tragedy of Chernobyl” was awarded the World Press Photo Award in 1987.

SE “USIE IZOTOP” and The National Center for Nuclear Research of the Radioisotopes Center POLATOM agreed on a Memorandum on cooperation and partnership

On April 16-17, 2024, the management of SE “USIE IZOTOP” visited the National Center for Nuclear Research of the Radioisotopes Center POLATOM (hereinafter – POLATOM) in the Republic of Poland.

POLATOM produces radioisotope preparations used in medicine, science, industry and environmental protection, which are supplied to more than 50 countries around the world.

POLATOM is the manufacturer of a significant part of radiopharmaceuticals, SE “USIE IZOTOP” supplies to Ukraine for the treatment and diagnosis of oncological diseases, as well as sources of ionizing radiation, which are widely used in industrial enterprises and in the energy sector.

During the meeting with Polish colleagues, we discussed:

  • expansion of the range of radiopharmaceuticals, which are supplied to Ukrainian medical institutions for the treatment and diagnosis of common oncological diseases,
  • the opportunity to gain experience in the field of the latest nuclear technologies and study the results of clinical research by the employees of the SE “USIE IZOTOP” directly at the POLATOM.

Visited:

  • production sites, where we got acquainted with the technological process of radiopharmaceuticals,
  • construction of an industrial cyclotron center to produce radioisotopes.

“According to the results of the visit, a Memorandum on Cooperation and Partnership was agreed between SE “USIE IZOTOP” and POLATOM, which will consolidate our intentions and expand opportunities for further joint work. We thank our Polish colleagues for the exchange of experience, for their support in a difficult time for Ukraine, and for the desire to develop our cooperation in the future,” said director of SE “USIE IZOTOP” Volodymyr KALACHYK.

April 7th – World Health Day

World Health Day is celebrated on April 7. It was on this day in 1948 that the Constitution of the World Health Organization сame into force.

In 2024, World Health Day will be held under the slogan “My Health, My Right”. This topic is designed to promote the right of every person, wherever they are, to quality medical care, education and information.

Among a number of factors that directly affect people’s health and lives, World Health Organization names armed conflicts that destroy people’s lives, causing death, pain, hunger and psychological suffering.

Despite the war that engulfed Ukraine, we continue to work, overcoming obstacles, finding ways to supply radioisotope products and sources of ionizing radiation for the needs of our hospitals, for diagnosis and treatment of patients. We know that it saves lives!

We continue building relationships with international partners

The management of SE “USIE IZOTOP” participated in a meeting with the leaders of USAID Ukraine and the US-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC).
During the event, organized by the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives of the USAID Mission to Ukraine informed about the projects and activities implemented under the support of their organization. They also informed about the scope of assistance provided to Ukraine under the martial law.
Such meetings are yet another proof that the world is with Ukraine, and the support through international projects is an important and significant contribution to the stabilization of our country’s economy.

SE “USIE IZOTOP” took part in the events of American partners

The management of SE “USIE IZOTOP”, as part of the delegation of Ukraine, headed by the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU), took part in the coordination meeting of the stakeholders steering committee to conduct official negotiations with representatives of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

During the main and several working meetings, the implementation of international technical assistance projects to enhance the security of ionizing radiation sources (IRS), transport and storage of radioactive materials, the improvement of physical protection systems, and the removal of disused IRS from medical and industrial institutions in Ukraine were reported and discussed.

There were also announced plans for new projects, trainings to improve the competence of the staff of SE “USIE IZOTOP” and further fruitful cooperation with the American partners to improve nuclear and radiation safety and security.

The U.S. DOE emphasized that SE “USIE IZOTOP” is a key partner of the DOE/National Nuclear Security Administration’s Office of Radiological Security (ORS) on many international projects that are implemented under the support of the U.S. Government.
