SE “USIE IZOTOP” and The National Center for Nuclear Research of the Radioisotopes Center POLATOM agreed on a Memorandum on cooperation and partnership

On April 16-17, 2024, the management of SE “USIE IZOTOP” visited the National Center for Nuclear Research of the Radioisotopes Center POLATOM (hereinafter – POLATOM) in the Republic of Poland.

POLATOM produces radioisotope preparations used in medicine, science, industry and environmental protection, which are supplied to more than 50 countries around the world.

POLATOM is the manufacturer of a significant part of radiopharmaceuticals, SE “USIE IZOTOP” supplies to Ukraine for the treatment and diagnosis of oncological diseases, as well as sources of ionizing radiation, which are widely used in industrial enterprises and in the energy sector.

During the meeting with Polish colleagues, we discussed:

  • expansion of the range of radiopharmaceuticals, which are supplied to Ukrainian medical institutions for the treatment and diagnosis of common oncological diseases,
  • the opportunity to gain experience in the field of the latest nuclear technologies and study the results of clinical research by the employees of the SE “USIE IZOTOP” directly at the POLATOM.

Visited:

  • production sites, where we got acquainted with the technological process of radiopharmaceuticals,
  • construction of an industrial cyclotron center to produce radioisotopes.

“According to the results of the visit, a Memorandum on Cooperation and Partnership was agreed between SE “USIE IZOTOP” and POLATOM, which will consolidate our intentions and expand opportunities for further joint work. We thank our Polish colleagues for the exchange of experience, for their support in a difficult time for Ukraine, and for the desire to develop our cooperation in the future,” said director of SE “USIE IZOTOP” Volodymyr KALACHYK.

April 7th – World Health Day

World Health Day is celebrated on April 7. It was on this day in 1948 that the Constitution of the World Health Organization сame into force.

In 2024, World Health Day will be held under the slogan “My Health, My Right”. This topic is designed to promote the right of every person, wherever they are, to quality medical care, education and information.

Among a number of factors that directly affect people’s health and lives, World Health Organization names armed conflicts that destroy people’s lives, causing death, pain, hunger and psychological suffering.

Despite the war that engulfed Ukraine, we continue to work, overcoming obstacles, finding ways to supply radioisotope products and sources of ionizing radiation for the needs of our hospitals, for diagnosis and treatment of patients. We know that it saves lives!

We continue building relationships with international partners

The management of SE “USIE IZOTOP” participated in a meeting with the leaders of USAID Ukraine and the US-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC).
During the event, organized by the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives of the USAID Mission to Ukraine informed about the projects and activities implemented under the support of their organization. They also informed about the scope of assistance provided to Ukraine under the martial law.
Such meetings are yet another proof that the world is with Ukraine, and the support through international projects is an important and significant contribution to the stabilization of our country’s economy.

SE “USIE IZOTOP” took part in the events of American partners

The management of SE “USIE IZOTOP”, as part of the delegation of Ukraine, headed by the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU), took part in the coordination meeting of the stakeholders steering committee to conduct official negotiations with representatives of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

During the main and several working meetings, the implementation of international technical assistance projects to enhance the security of ionizing radiation sources (IRS), transport and storage of radioactive materials, the improvement of physical protection systems, and the removal of disused IRS from medical and industrial institutions in Ukraine were reported and discussed.

There were also announced plans for new projects, trainings to improve the competence of the staff of SE “USIE IZOTOP” and further fruitful cooperation with the American partners to improve nuclear and radiation safety and security.

The U.S. DOE emphasized that SE “USIE IZOTOP” is a key partner of the DOE/National Nuclear Security Administration’s Office of Radiological Security (ORS) on many international projects that are implemented under the support of the U.S. Government.

Visit of the Acting Director of the Department of Asset Management of the State Property Fund of Ukraine

Acting Director of the Department of Asset Management of the State Property Fund of Ukraine, Kateryna Bizhko, visited SE “USIE IZOTOP” . In particular, she got acquainted with the work of the Production Complex of SE “USIE IZOTOP”.

Kateryna Bizhko emphasized the importance of the activities of SE “USIE IZOTOP” activities and the industries that SE “USIE IZOTOP” provides with sources of ionizing radiation and isotope products under martial law.

SE “USIE IZOTOP” received a high-terrain vehicle for work in crisis regions as part of an international program

State Enterprise “USIE IZOTOP” was given a high-terrain vehicle based on TOYOTA HILUX as part of international technical assistance from the U.S. Government through the U.S. Department of Energy. The Kraken project took place with the assistance of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine and with the support of the State Property Fund of Ukraine.

From now on, SE “USIE IZOTOP” has in its arsenal a 4×4 pickup truck with a full-size SuperCrew Cab based on TOYOTA HILUX. This is, first of all, the possibility of safe and fast movement while working in crisis regions, which means protection for our personnel, who are undoubtedly the most valuable resource of , SE “USIE IZOTOP”.

SE “USIE IZOTOP” also cooperates in the implementation of a number of other projects, which include the modernization of the physical protection of the company’s storage facilities, the transportation and removal of radioactive sources from medical and industrial facilities.
