SE “USIE IZOTOP” personnel continues to improve its qualification!

At the initiative of SE “USIE IZOTOP” management and under the support of the U.S. Department of Energy, an international technical assistance project was launched to modernize the hot cell of the SE “USIE IZOTOP” production complex and to provide specialized training for personnel.

As a part of this project, engineers and technical specialists of SE “USIE IZOTOP” successfully completed the training on maintenance and repair of “hot cell” equipment and systems, which took place from 11 to 15 November 2024 in the Czech Republic at the sites of the Czech companies UJP Praha and Research Center Řež (CVŘ).

This course included theoretical and practical sessions in the hot cells on operation, diagnostics, elimination of future problems and potential repairs of individual elements and systems used in the hot cell of the SE “USIE IZOTOP” production complex.

Additionally, SE “USIE IZOTOP” specialists visited the UJP Praha production site, where they got acquainted with the processes of manufacturing equipment, containers and radiotherapy devices, and at CVŘ Řež, as part of a technical tour, they visited the radioactive waste processing plant and the operating nuclear research reactor with its research and experimental facilities.

Employees of SE “USIE IZOTOP” continue to participate in trainings and courses on professional development, gaining new skills and knowledge, because the high qualification and competence of personnel is the basis for safe and high-quality work.

Representatives of SE “USIE IZOTOP”, as part of the official delegation of Ukraine, took part in a regular meeting with the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s Office of Radiological Security (ORS), which took place during November 9-11, 2024, in Krakow, the Republic of Poland.

During the working meetings, the parties discussed the current state of implementation of projects on the security of radioactive material transportation, modernization of physical protection systems and removal of disused ionizing radiation sources. Additionally, initiatives to launch new international technical assistance projects were outlined.

The delegation of Ukraine also included representatives of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU), State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management (SAUEZM), and the state enterprises under the SAUEZM structure: SE “Central Enterprise for Radioactive Waste Management” (CERWM) and SSE “Association “Radon” (SAR).

SE “USIE IZOTOP” strengthens its international cooperation!

Invited by the SE «USIE IZOTOP» management, on November 8, 2024, representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine 🇺🇸 and the U.S. Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration (U.S. DOE/NNSA) paid a working visit to SE “USIE IZOTOP”.

The American delegation, accompanied by the management and technical specialists of the enterprise, visited the facilities of the SE “USIE IZOTOP” Production Complex, where they got acquainted with the main activities of the enterprise.

The participants discussed current cooperation and further plans for the implementation of joint projects between the U.S. DOE’s National Laboratories and SE “USIE IZOTOP” to enhance the level of safety and security of ionizing radiation sources in Ukraine.

As a result of the meeting, the agreements were reached to initiate the cooperation with the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL), which was interested in the experience and technical expertise of the SE “USIE IZOTOP” specialists in the field of managing ionizing radiation sources.

Employees of the international department of SE “USIE IZOTOP” participated in the VII National SME Forum “United for Sustainability and Recovery”

The employees of the International Department of SE “USIE IZOTOP” participated in the VII National SME Forum “United for Resilience and Recovery,” which took place on November 8, 2024. This event brought together nearly 200 representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, government bodies, embassies, international organizations, projects, business associations, business support organizations, expert communities, and business media.

The forum was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Participating in the VII National Forum reaffirmed IZOTOP’s commitment to comprehensive growth and adherence to current trends. We explored advanced approaches to strengthening resilience and ensuring progress in the face of contemporary challenges.

We extend our gratitude to the organizers for the opportunity to be a part of this significant event. We remain open to new opportunities for collaboration and continue to move forward for the sustainable development of our country.

IAIA Mission visited SE “USIE IZOTOP”

On November 6, 2024, a working meeting with a team of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) took place at SE “USIE IZOTOP.” This important visit was part of the second phase of the IAEA “Support and Assistance Mission on the Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources in Ukraine” (ISAMRAD), aimed at providing support and ensuring the safety and security of ionizing radioactive sources (IRS) in Ukraine.

As part of the Mission, which was accompanied by specialists from the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU) and the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS), a technical visit to the facilities of the enterprise’s production complex, including the radioisotope product storage facility, was carried out. The participants were familiarized with the main areas of activity of SE “USIE IZOTOP”. The IAEA representatives were shown the practical application of equipment and systems already received as part of the international IAEA RANET network to enhance the radiation safety and physical protection system of SE “USIE IZOTOP” facilities.

The meeting covered a wide range of topics. The experts exchanged views on the preliminary results of the Mission’s tasks and conducted a detailed assessment of the progress achieved in improving the quality of safety and security of IRS at the SE “USIE IZOTOP”.

Based on the discussions held, further plans for cooperation were outlined, and additional needs were agreed upon to strengthen the capabilities of SE “USIE IZOTOP” to meet the highest safety standards.
